LOOK AT ME explores how fashion & beauty industries set the rules and shape the masses; how the concept of the ‘truly feminine’ has been fashioned and how both women and men are conditioned to dress, behave and think in a distinct way.

Balancing between the darkly funny and the surreal, LOOK AT ME focuses on a woman working herself into a frenzy as she tries to redefine herself and the social norms in which she is deeply embedded.

LOOK AT ME is a delicate clownery act - applying elements from stand up comedy and social satire - exploring the idea of gender as a social structure and its possible limitations.

Altofest Festival in Naples, Italy.

Monamas Theatre Company will be reworking and revisiting

LOOK-AT-ME in a residency at the Altofest Festival in Naples.

Since 2011, citizens of Naples become Altofest’s space donors, welcoming artists into their private spaces.
These private and intimate places (apartments, terraces, basements, courtyards, whole buildings, artisan shops) become spaces for artistic residencies, where each artist will re-qualify one of their artworks in dialogue with and in relation to the citizen’s daily lived experience.

The work will inhabit totally new spaces, geometries and memories, calling the artist to reconsider its structure, its essence and its form, in relation to space and all other relations passing through space.

Open presentations of the residency will take place from the 3rd of July to the 7th and will be open to all citizens of Naples.

This production was originally presented at the  Cockpit Theatre in London, on the 10th and 12th of November as part of Voila!Europe 2018.
